Personal interests

Breellen is a dual qualified (NSW and England and Wales) planning, environment and local government specialist with experience in both the public and private sectors. Breellen has acted for corporate and government clients in NSW (both State and local government) and in the United Kingdom, advising on wide range of planning and environmental law issues.

Breellen's areas of expertise include:
  • drafting and negotiating voluntary planning agreements; 
  • Land and Environment Court proceedings;
  • advising in relation to development applications, environmental assessments, major projects and state significant development under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
  • heritage conservation and heritage agreements;
  • biodiversity issues, biobanking and biodiversity certification under the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995;
  • threatened species and native vegetation legislation; 
  • advising on contaminated land management, environmental compliance, pollution issues and prosecutions;
  • due diligence in relation to environmental and planning issues in commercial and property transactions;
  • sustainability, including environmental upgrade agreements; and 
  • climate change.

Breellen has extensive experience in the government and development industry, having worked at the (then) NSW Department of Planning and, the (then) NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water. Breellen has also previously worked within the planning & environment groups of a major mid-tier firm in NSW and in the United Kingdom.

Breellen was admitted in 2003 (NSW) and 2007 (England and Wales). She joined Lander & Rogers in 2011.


Qualifications
BA/LLB (Hons) (University of Wollongong)
Breellen is currently completing a Master of Environmental Law.
