Personal interests

A skilled facilitator and negotiator, David regularly works with Government, contractors, principals, financiers, underwriters and consultants to help translate great ideas into successful projects. Over 25 years of experience in project and infrastructure development enable him to appreciate the needs and perspectives of all participants from a practical point of view as well as a strictly legal point of view.

David is particularly experienced in leading the co-ordination and delivery of complex and varied legal services on many types of major projects. His career has included legal services leadership roles in projects as diverse as Star City Casino Sydney Olympic Stadium, King Street Wharf, Lane Cove Tunnel, Port Botany Expansion, Rhodes Waterside, Minto Rail Alliance, American Express HQ, Actew AGL HQ, NIB HQ, Garvan Institute and St Vincent's Hospital Cancer Clinic, Erskine Park Industrial Estate and Marsden Park Industrial Precinct, as well as major Defence infrastructure and materiel procurements.

David has also guided the successful resolution of a wide range of large scale disputes.

David is committed to making an intellectual contribution to Project Development and Infrastructure law. He regularly presents at seminars and masterclasses. He has contributed to programme development and lecturing in undergraduate and postgraduate studies in construction law at UNSW and UTS Sydney. He has co-edited and co-authored an electronic web-based text on construction law and regularly writes on construction and project law issues.

David has been recognised as one of Australia's top lawyers in Construction Law and in Government Law by a number of independent peer surveys, most recently in the 2012 edition of Best Lawyers (Australia), as published in the Australian Financial Review. Selection to Best Lawyers is based on a rigorous peer-review survey comprising more than 240,000 evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.
