Derek is the head of our national Workplace Relations & Safety group. He practises in all areas of workplace relations and safety law, operating extensively across both the public and private sectors with experience in all Australian jurisdictions. Derek appears regularly before Fair Work Australia, various equal opportunity commissions and tribunals and has developed an extensive series of training workshops used by numerous national employers. As a former AFL field umpire, Derek retains his strong interest and involvement in AFL football. Derek is a member of the Advisory Board of AFL Victoria. He writes a weekly column in the Herald Sun, is heard weekly on SEN (1116AM), and was the Fox Footy Channel’s umpiring expert, appearing weekly on “White Line Fever”, until the end of 2006.
