Personal interests

Genevieve is a partner and the practice group leader of our highly successful WorkCover team in Melbourne.

Genevieve has practised exclusively in the areas of WorkCover, employers’ liability insurance and common law damages representing WorkSafe Victoria and self-insurers. She has provided extensive advice in all aspects of compensation law and has been active in litigation at the Magistrates, County and Supreme Courts. Genevieve has particular expertise in the area of self-insurers and has acted for our self-insurer clients on a continuous basis from the introduction of the Accident Compensation Act in August 1985.

As the relationship partner to WorkSafe Victoria since 2005, Genevieve has been actively involved in strategic working groups, scheme significant cases and on-going client liaison.

She has a keen interest in building a dynamic and successful team using insights from positive psychology and applying a strengths-based approach. This has made Genevieve's team a standout in its field and she has completed numerous papers, articles and presentations on the subject. The approach has also attracted great interest from other employers and legal firms and was featured in a recent Australian Financial Review article on the subject ("Seniority Gives Way to Strengths", AFR, 4 December 2009).

Genevieve's areas of expertise include:
  • accident compensation law;
  • self insurance;
  • employers' liability;
  • common law damages; and
  • litigation matters at the Magistrates, County and Supreme Courts.

Genevieve joined Lander & Rogers in 1985, was admitted to practice in 1986 and became a partner of the firm in 1991.
