Personal interests

Patrick is an insurance and litigation specialist with 15 years experience working in Australia and the United Kingdom. He acts for Australian and London market insurers as well as receiving direct instructions from large insureds.

Patrick's experience covers a range of insurance matters including indemnity, co-insurance, double insurance, excess insurance and reinsurance as well as subrogation and recovery. He has represented insurers in coverage litigation where indemnity has been declined and regularly acts as monitoring counsel in large litigated claims. His practice has a particular focus on financial lines, construction and engineering.

Patrick has significant local and international litigation experience having acted as defence counsel for insureds before Australian and international courts, administrative bodies and dispute resolution institutions, including the High Court of Justice in London, Le Tribunal de Commerce de Paris, the ICC International Court of Arbitration and the London Court of International Arbitration.

Patrick's areas of expertise include:

  • professional indemnity;
  • financial and commercial risks;
  • construction and engineering;
  • directors' and officers' liability;
  • property and ISR; and
  • product liability

Patrick was admitted to practice in Victoria in 1997, England and Wales in 2003 and joined Lander & Rogers in 2003.
