Peggy has practised exclusively in superannuation and financial services for the past 20 years. She has particular experience with corporate superannuation funds, public offer superannuation funds and public sector superannuation funds.

Peggy was a consultant to the federal government's recent "Cooper Review" of the Superannuation System and was also appointed as a member of the Peak Consultation Group to advise government on implementation of the Stronger Super reform package.

Prior to joining Lander & Rogers, Peggy was a partner and later a consultant at a large Australian-based international law firm.

Until 1989, Peggy worked as a lawyer in the USA, advising employers on employee benefit arrangements. This involved developing and designing pension plans, welfare benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements.

Peggy was named the Best Lawyers’ 2013 Melbourne Superannuation Lawyer of the Year.  She was also named as one of Australia’s best superannuation lawyers in the peer review surveys published in the Australian Financial Review in 2013, 2012, 2011 and in 2010. 

Peggy recognised in the 2013 and 2012 editions of Best Lawyers (Australia) for her expertise in Financial Institutions law and in Investment law, as well as in the 2013 edition for her expertise in Investment Funds.

Peggy's areas of expertise include:

• analysing the requirements of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (Cth), including RSE Licensing requirements; 
• evaluating indemnity insurance policies for boards and directors; 
• litigation concerning superannuation issues, particularly judicial review of ASIC, APRA and SCT decisions; 
• advising employers about their Superannuation Guarantee and choice of fund responsibilities; 
• advising trustees on successor fund transfer obligations; 
• attending to superannuation issues in commercial mergers and acquisitions; 
• helping financial services entities comply with Corporations Act requirements, including licensing and disclosure; 
• advising boards on governance matters; 
• assisting trustees of superannuation funds in complying with RSE licence conditions and negotiations with APRA; 
• applications to APRA and ASIC for relief from regulatory requirements; and 
• handling commercial transactions for trustees including the acquisition of other trustee companies.

Peggy was admitted to practice in 1991 and joined Lander & Rogers in 2011.

• Served as chair of the Law Council of Australia—Superannuation Committee from 2002 to 2006 and remains an emeritus member of that committee

• Member of the International Pension and Employee Benefits Lawyers Association (having served on the Steering Committee of that association for six years) and member of Women in Superannuation
• On the editorial board of the “Australian Superannuation Law Bulletin” and is the past Australian editor of the “International Pension Lawyer”
• Author of the Australian chapter on pensions in the American Bar Association publication “International Labor and Employment Law”
• Regular contributor to superannuation industry journals, a frequent lecturer at industry seminars, and a commentator on industry issues
