Bulletin - Spring 2015

Workplace Relations & Safety Bulletin - 24 November 2015

Welcome to the Spring 2015 edition of the Bulletin.

With Christmas almost upon us, employers may now be turning their minds to the end of year party season. It will come as no surprise to many of our readers that the phones in our office often run hot in the lead up to Christmas, as yet another end of year party ends in tears!

Now is a good time to remind employees about the appropriate standards of behaviour to be observed both in the workplace and at work-related events. We talk further about how to avoid a post-party season legal hangover in our article "Managing party season" (see page 4).

There have been a number of developments relevant to employers during the quarter, and we look at some of these in more detail in this edition of the Bulletin, including:

  • Managing party season - how to avoid legal hangovers in the New Year

  • Small business dismissals - Keep to the code!

  • Never gonna give you up: Protecting client relationships through restraints

  • Mass inconvenience not grounds enough to stop industrial action

  • Disability discrimination: are you making reasonable adjustments?

  • Super problems during the Christmas season

  • Incident notification: Are you getting it right?

and more...
