Jane Fiske

Jane leads Lander & Rogers' national health team and is also the firm's Chair of Partners. She has extensive experience in disciplinary matters, coronial inquiries, significant claims and defence litigation in the medical negligence and health sphere.

Experience

Jane has acted for hospitals, doctors and allied health professionals in hearings that are often highly publicised and require sensitive management.

Jane was recognised as "Lawyer of the Year" for Medical Negligence in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia. She is also recognised in the current and previous editions of The Best Lawyers in Australia in the areas of Insurance Law, Health and Aged Care Law, and Litigation. In addition, she is recognised in the current and prior editions of the Doyle's Guide as a Pre-eminent and Leading Lawyer in the field of Medical Negligence.

Jane is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, Women in Insurance, and the Medico Legal Society.

Jane has authored a number of medical and health publications and presented and chaired several conferences. Recently, she presented at the International Medical Professional Liability Association conference on the topic of "Claims inflation: a global perspective".

Career highlights

Jane's experience includes acting for:

• acting for an emergency services organisation in an inquest into the death of Tanya Day
• acting for a health service in the coronial inquest into the deaths of five trans and gender diverse people
• a midwife in a high-profile coronial inquest concerning a maternal death during a home birth
• a hospital in high quantum and complex Supreme Court proceedings where it was alleged the management of labour resulted in significant brain injury to a baby and psychological damage to the mother
• a hospital in a nervous shock and financial dependency multi-party claim.
