Jon Hunt


Professional biography

Clients instruct Jon in proceedings in the Federal and Supreme Courts, as well as in relation to examinations and investigations undertaken by liquidators, ASIC, ICAC and other regulatory bodies. The size of the claims defended by Jon range from low value claims to multi-million dollar actions.

Jon has acted on behalf of directors and officers from a wide range of industries, extending from mining companies to utility companies to Aboriginal Land Councils. Jon's extensive experience in PI matters has involved him acting on behalf of professionals from a broad range of disciplines, extending from accountants, financial advisers, liquidators and tax advisers to real estate agents and valuers to insurance and stock brokers. He has acted, both in a defence and monitoring capacity, in many class actions arising out of managed investment schemes, collapsed financial products and natural disasters.

Jon has a strong market standing and reputation, which is recognised in the high profile matters on which he is instructed. Jon is recognised by his clients and peers and was included in the 2016 - 2019 editions of Best Lawyers in Australia for Insurance Law and Litigation. He was also a finalist for Insurance Partner of the Year in the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards 2016.
