Career highlights

Adam's career highlights include:

  • advising South Western Sydney Local Health District in response to an investigation and subsequent prosecution by SafeWork NSW, stemming from the tragic death of one newborn and serious injury to another as a result of faulty respiratory gas installation by a contractor. This involved ultimately negotiating an enforceable undertaking with SafeWork to address gaps in procedures and provide broader community benefits, leading to withdrawal of the prosecution against SWSLHD

This work successfully demonstrated to SafeWork why the most serious originally proposed charge should be dropped, and others downgraded

  • advising a large public sector agency with respect to its management of WHS responsibilities in a complex multi-site/multi-duty holder scenario
  • advising and successfully appearing as advocate for clients across a variety of complex unfair dismissal and anti-bullying claims, as well as urgent applications to stop industrial action
  • advising and appearing for a multinational group of companies in complex Federal Court proceedings brought by a former director.
