While Australia's legal market has been transformed by mergers and international expansion, Lander & Rogers has reached its 80th anniversary by taking a different path - remaining proudly independent while growing into one of Australia's leading national law firms.
Founded just after the Second World War by Hartwell "Chic" Lander and Glyde Rogers, Lander & Rogers has advised Australian and overseas organisations through eight decades of economic, social and technological change, from post-war reconstruction to today's AI revolution. The firm has grown from a Melbourne-based practice into a national firm with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra.
Chief Executive Partner Daniel Proietto said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate the firm's history while remaining focused on the future.
"Reaching 80 years is an important milestone, but what excites us most is what comes next," Mr Proietto said.
"The legal profession has changed more in the past five years than it did in the previous twenty. AI, changing client expectations and new ways of working are reshaping our profession. Independence gives us the freedom to respond quickly rather than waiting for decisions to be made somewhere else."
The anniversary follows a year of strong momentum for the firm. With FY26 revenue approaching $250 million, representing more than 15% annual growth, Lander & Rogers has continued to strengthen its national footprint, attract leading talent and invest in innovation. Today, Lander & Rogers comprises more than 120 partners and nearly 800 people nationally. The firm has maintained its Workplace Gender Equality Agency Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation since 2020 and was recognised as Best Australian Law Firm (Revenue $100m–$300m) and Best Professional Services Firm at the 2026 Beaton Client Choice Awards.
"Our success has never been about standing still. It's come from continually evolving alongside our clients, investing in our people and having the confidence to adapt as the profession changes."
