UK business publication The Financial Times has revealed the finalists in its prestigious Innovative Lawyers Asia Pacific 2022 awards, with Lander & Rogers shortlisted in two categories:
Most innovative law firm in Asia Pacific
The "most innovative law firm" category highlights the 25 most future-ready law firms in the Asia-Pacific region, recognising achievements in innovation and firms' use of data and technology. In 2021, Lander & Rogers led initiatives to overcome some of the legal industry's most pressing challenges ─ digitising processes to ensure business resilience during the pandemic and beyond; applying automation, data analytics and legal design to the practice of law to achieve better, faster results for clients; and forging partnerships with industry and the education sector to upskill the next generation of lawyers in legal tech and innovation.
Innovation in creating new standards
Lander & Rogers is also recognised for its collaboration with smart legal contract provider beNEXT to develop streamlined new contract solutions for the real estate industry.
The firm's property lawyers and in-house innovation team, iHub, worked with beNEXT to develop an automated solution for an Agency Authority Agreement (which enables a seller to appoint a real estate agent to act on their behalf) that is compliant across Australian jurisdictions. The platform consolidates the various Agency Authority Agreements and relevant legislation requirements across Australia, presenting information in simple terms and automating workflows to simplify the contract process.
This is the first contract of its kind developed by Lander & Rogers on beNEXT's platform and demonstrates the potential of lawyers and tech startups to work together to develop transformative, ready-to-use tools for businesses.
Winners in each category will be announced on 12 May.
