Michael is a sustainability consultant in Lander & Rogers' national Pro Bono, Community & Environment practice.

He is a people-centric senior manager who assists organisations with improving their operational performance in a conscientious, sustainable, and resource efficient manner.

Michael is responsible for developing the firm's environmental strategy, managing the Environmental Management System, and providing business process expertise that contributes to a robust governance operating environment.


A chartered accountant with over twenty years’ experience delivering trusted advice to operational leaders and building healthy and successful teams, Michael retrained and refocused his professional career to help organisations operate more sustainably for the betterment of current and future generations.

Purpose-driven and leveraging experience gained from many years of international placements, Michael offers expertise in business process design, operational continuous improvement, and project review and business unit performance reporting for executive leadership. He has experience working in many sectors including engineering, telecommunications, government, construction, manufacturing, transport and civil infrastructure, and mining and resources.

Career highlights

Michael's career highlights include:

  • achieving carbon neutral certification from Climate Active for an organisation following the development of a carbon inventory, emissions offset strategy, and environmental mitigation initiatives
  • developing and implementing a comprehensive environment management plan that received endorsement and independent certification for use within the legal sector
  • moderating and contributing to a panel at a conference for law firm managing partners focussed on the role of ESG within the legal profession and opportunities for leadership to embrace the challenge
  • acting as treasurer and management committee member for a non-profit organisation that delivers knowledge sharing forums to local communities about environmental sustainability topics
  • acting as general manager of finance (operations) for a $1B revenue construction and engineering business. Responsible for delegated authorities, monthly performance reporting, and leading a multidisciplinary team of plant & equipment, payroll, accounting, systems, and progress reporting specialists
